Orchard Hill is a serif typeface designed for a Christian camp called Camp Orchard Hill in Dallas, Pennsylvania. The letterforms are based on engraved wooden signs that hang outside the cabins where overnight campers stay for the week. The letters on these signs have a single weight and a bubbly handwritten look.
The typeface Orchard Hill uses the same cap height, x-height, and weight of these letters but has been adapted to look more dignified and structured. With the Refining of the handwritten form, and the addition of a transitional serif, the typeface Orchard Hill captures the professional and trustworthy conduct of the camp and values the mission that takes place in the cabins.
